Hopkins is the #5 seed in the tournament and fresh off an upset over top seeded Duke in the semi-final round, they proved once again that you have to play the game on the field before you can pick a winner. As much as I wanted Duke to win, I knew that Hopkins was a force to be reckoned with if they were able to get into the Final Four. Coach Pietramala has never lost to a team twice in one season, they played Syracuse at home earlier in the year and lost in overtime, so its a third chance for the Jays to avenge a loss. Hofstra and Duke were the other two.

Syracuse is the #3 seed and beat #2 seeded Virginia in a double overtime thriller. They were down to Virginia by as much as five goals at one point in the game. Having beat Hopkins earlier in the year might give them an advantage, plus they have three fewer losses than Hopkins. However, records don’t mean too much at this point.

Trudie Picks: Winner of this game will be the first team to win 10 NCAA lacrosse championships. Hopkins would also be the first team to win the title with five losses. Syracuse would have its first title in four seasons. Tough to pick a team when they both have amazing talent and rich traditions. I am not a fan of dynasty teams though, so I am going to go with Syracuse in what hopes to be a thriller in front of a record crowd.
