I don’t know much about these teams, or Division II lacrosse in general since it gets little exposure, even from the main lacrosse media sources. Unless there is a big regular season match up, the championship game is about all that Division II has going for it.
Le Moyne comes into the Championship game with a 15-1 record. They were undefeated in the regular season, but had a loss to Bryant in the Northeast 10 Conference Championship game. However, they played Bryant later in the semi-final round and beat them 11-2, plus they played in the regular season and Le Moyne won that game 8-3. Le Moyne won last year’s DII Championship by scoring on a fluke goal, a pass that found its way in the net with just seconds left on the clock.
NYIT also has one loss coming into the game, they lost to Dowling 15-14 at the end of the regular season. They are 12-1 and have big game experience, last winning the National Championship in 2005.
Trudie picks: Both teams have been to the title game before, neither team has a better record than the other, and each team has been playing the same level of opponents all season, so its a tough pick, but I think Le Moyne will pull off another fluke victory.
