Game Time- Saturday May 24 2:30pm EST Gillette Stadium Foxborough, MA
TV- ESPN2
Duke (18-1) is the number 1 seed in this year’s tournament, just like they were last season when they lost to Hopkins in the Championship Game. Duke beat Loyola 12-7, and Ohio State 21-10 to advance to the Final Four. They beat Hopkins earlier at Duke this season 17-6. They have the best record, the highest ranked offense, and have beaten two of the other three final four teams already this season.
Hopkins (10-5) is the #5 seed and beat Hofstra 10-4, and Navy 10-4 to earn their way into the Final Four. No team with 5 or more losses has ever won the National Championship. However, Hopkins could still upset Duke in the NCAA’s like they have the past two times Duke was in the tournament. Duke will win the regular season match-up, but Hopkins wins the game that matters. But that has only applied to the Championship Game. So it’s possible that Duke will be able to get past Hopkins. It is the tournament, and Hopkins has played great in the Final Four a majority of the past decade.
Trudie Picks- Still a fan of Danowski, Greer, McDevitt, O’Hara, and Loftus more than I am of Rabil and Huntley. With their high powered offense Duke should be able to get that elusive title this year, but only if they don’t get held back by a physical defensive team. Hopkins may be able to do that. I am going for Duke to win by a few. I think they can get it going on a big stage.
