Syracuse is the third seed in the tournament and had an easy 20-3 victory over Canisius last Sunday. The return to the quarterfinals, and one step away from the Final Four after a losing season last year.
Notre Dame is the sixth seed and beat Colgate in overtime last weekend. They were down a few times and looked like they might be upset. This is their third straight playoff appearance and their third chance overall to go to the Final Four, which they did in 2001.
Trudie Picks-’Cuse definitely has the playoff experience, even if the current crop of players hasn’t played in many tournament games, they are still playing for Syracuse and have a big game almost every week. Notre Dame had one of the best seasons its ever had it does not want to end it without a trip to Boston. If Syracuse had not lost to Colgate two weeks ago, I would have thought Notre Dame wouldn’t have a chance. However, I think Syracuse showed some vulnerability and the Irish could take advantage this Sunday. Last quarterfinal game, I am going with Notre Dame in a close one.
