Virginia is the #2 seed and came of a very close win against UMBC. They won 10-9 and were down a few times to UMBC by a few goals, but were able to prevail and move into the quarterfinal round.
Maryland played Denver in the first round and beat them pretty easily 10-7 , but they were down 5-2 at one point.
Trudie Picks-This is the third meeting between UVA and MD this season. Maryland won the regular season meeting 13-7, Virginia won the ACC Tournament game 11-8. This game is in Maryland at Navy. So there should be a few more Terps fans making the trip than Wahoo fans. That is if the Terp fans would rather watch lacrosse than horses get euthanized at the Preakness. Maryland has great, but young attack. Virginia has a great, but young midfield. Both teams have solid defenses and LSMs. Virginia has a spotty goalie, Maryland has two great goalies. Maryland has three good FOGO’s, my favorite is Will Dalton. UVA has a decent FOGO in Garret Ince. But I am going to have to go with crab cakes and lacrosse in Annapolis on Saturday, because that’s what Maryland does! Terps will win.
