Notre Dame vs Colgate- I said a few days prior to the game that this would be the best game of the first round. The only valid arguments that it wasn’t would be the UVA vs UMBC game, the UNC vs Navy game, or maybe even the OSU vs Cornell game. Notre Dame beat Colgate in OT 8-7. Colgate had its chances. They were up by 3 at one point, and by two in the fourth quarter. ND proved they are a good team that can make a comeback and win.

Hofstra vs Hopkins- Johns Hopkins wasted no time disposing of Hofstra winning the game 10-4 behind Paul Rabil’s 4 goals. I didn’t think Hofstra had it in them to pull off another upset, especially against Hopkins in the NCAA tournament. I was right…What’s the deal with Hopkins having 3 different colored helmets every year? They are almost as bad as the University of Oregon’s football team.

UVA vs UMBC-Another accurate pick by me! I thought it would be a close game, but I though UMBC would be able to pull of the upset. They were so close! They held the lead several times in the game, but stupid penalties cost them their leads. UVA moves on to play Maryland next weekend in Annapolis, with two other Maryland teams. Which means that the Naval Academy will be rockin’…and there could be two Maryland colleges in the Final Four.

Syracuse vs Canisius- For the record, I was dead on with my prediction for this game too! Syracuse bombed Canisius 20-3. The Griffins were out of their league. Didn’t really pay too much attention to the specifics of this one because Syracuse was up 3-0 within the first minutes of the game.
