Hopkins is the #5 seed after a 3-0 start to the season, a five game losing streak, which includes an 8-7 overtime loss to Hofstra in March, and a current five game winning streak since they stopped losing. They are 8-5 and  usually have the toughest schedule in lacrosse. Hopkins has beat tournament teams UMBC, Maryland, Navy and Loyola. All of their losses were to tournament teams, Hofstra in OT,  Syracuse in OT, Virginia in OT, UNC and Duke. Overall, JHU has the potential for nine rematches in this year’s tournament. Let’s all remember that they were the third seed last year and won the title, so it will be interesting to see what happens the next few weekends. I still think they can win a title if they can get through the first few rounds.

Hofstra is the AQ from the CAA and has a 10-5 record. Aside from beating Hopkins early in the season, they do not have any other big wins. Their only other game against a tournament team was a loss to UNC, who Hopkins also lost to. However, Hofstra also lost to sub-par UMass, Princeton, Army, and Drexel who aren’t in the NCAA tournament.

Trudie Picks-Hofstra may have beaten Hopkins earlier in the season, and share a similar record. However, Hopkins definitely has more talent, and always improves when the tournament starts. I see Hopkins having no problems beating Hofstra…By a good amount.
